went to hobbos hut to have dinner before a movie on saturday night. waited nearly an hr to get our meals. It wasn't particularly busy or anything and on further investigation I noticed 6 chefs in the kitchen.... order was stuffed up to, I asked for no sauce. Told the waitress that I had asked for no sauce... u know what her reply was? ohhh there's not that much there anyway. too bad I hate mango and decided not to eat the meal because they screwed up. hope no one gets the same as I

I have always found the staff hospitable as well as the food fantastic. In the many time I have dined there it has never taken an hour for me to be served with my meal and I have been there while it is busy. I can also state that at no such time have I ever seen 6 chefs there. Though for a factual amount of the number of chefs guess one could enquire of the management there.Hope no one takes notice of the load crap written about a restaurant that has just won another 2 awards last night. Congradulations to the management and staff there for their hard earned work and great food and hospitaloiy getting reconised for a wonderful restaurant townsville should be proud of .

its a great place to eat 6 chefs i cant imagine that but the food is good and kids are welcome

sorry 4 chefs and 2 kitchen hands, point is there was 6. It is good to hear that they won an award for best seafood. I have heard the seafood is amazing and they have proven this to me with their prawn rolls that they usually sell at events.

last time i went to hobos hut the service was down right rude i asked for my steak m/w and when it came out th einside was bleeding and still cold i asked for it to be re cooked by the time it had come out again everyone else at my table had eaten their meals and deserts and some had already had to leave it was over an hour before it was returned to me... the other food on my platehad not been reheated the chips were cold and the salad was all limp. i had moved my chair to the end of the table and there was at least 2 m between me and the next booth and door and i was told to move very abrubtly by a waitress and when i asked her why she said i was a fire hazzard ??? there was 8 people at our table and 2 people at another table...it was clear that she was cranky at me for returning my meal. I would really like to return as i have heard that it has had nice food but i dont want to pay money to be served the food that i had been served and be treated the way we were.

I have to say my recent visit to Hobbos hut was underwhelming. The food was ordinary, the décor was substandard to amateurish, I think the best thing about the place was the marine fish tank at the entrance. It would appear on the surface that it’s trying to play in the big league of the popular restaurants around town but with a fish n chip shop attitude. The food was expensive but was really nothing special. All I can say would be re-fit the dining area but this time use a professional shop fitting business and have an interior decorator give some advice when doing so. The chef’s/ Cooks need to ’shop’ their menu, have a look around town and see what the other seafood restaurants are doing then either do it better or do it with a twist. This business has so much potential but at present all it’s doing is churning out an average product at an expensive price when with a little effort they could be the premier dining facility in the region.

We have had the same experience, Twice!
too expensive
waited too long for the food, about an hour ( only 3 or 4 other tables)
food was Very average!
If it wasn't for the waitress, who was very lovely!! It would have been a TOTAL disappointment!
I think the waitress is used to apologising too!

Well I probably won't ever go there.
There was 2 positive comments and 1 of those 2 looks like he/she works there, how else does he/she know about staff and awards. So really there has only been 1 positive comment.
Plenty of other places to dine at.

Maybe they read the Townsville Bullentin where all the awards were mentioned and they actually visited the restaurant

Thought i would take my nanny and poppy somewhere special (as my poppy loves seafood) to find our food utterly disgusting! Even he complained about it and nothing worries him at all!
Won't be going back there in a hurry!

mate i know for a fact that hobbos never has 6 chefs at once i am an ex-apprentice chef at hobbos and we were lucky to have two chefs. we only had 2-3 apprentices at once so get ya f@#$in facts rite
