I’m a big believer of credit where credit is due....... Having said that I also believe actions have consequences. Townsville has a spectacular range of dining facilities, some good and some pretty bad. I've had my fair share of both and would like to know peoples favorite restaurant, regardless menu. To be one of Townsville's best the service, food, staff attitude, price, comfort atmosphere all have to come into consideration....... Make yourself a food critic that Gordon Ramsay would be proud of
Let us know what you think deserves WOMF'S BEST TOWNSVILLE RESTAURANT
Hey Townsville's best resturant is by far Momo's I can't fault them in any way! YUM YUM!!!!

None of my friends, family and work colleagues would ever return to Momo's after their dining experiences. It is overpriced and crappy food. Sorry, but I disagree wholeheartedly.

i enjoy the atmosphere at cactus! great food, great drinks, ALWAYS served so quickly even when it is packed! most i've ever waited is probably about 20-30mins. great price as well. if i don't feel like a casual dinner and want somewhere quiter I would recommend Sugartrain (opposite cactus on ground floor of hotel ibis) always received great service and the food is delicious! great decor as well!
and about momo's, I went there about 6 months ago and refused to go there ever again as food was overpriced, not as said on the menu, took almost an hour to come out for 2ppl and overall was not happy! recently went there for a friend's bday and have to say the new chef there has redone the menu and made a new name for momo's!! should be very proud of the job well done!! food was aboslutely divine!!!

There are a few good resteraunts in Townsville, but its hard sometimes because the consistency isnt there, one day you might go and its fantastic and then you brag about it get all your friends to come with you on your next trip and its a let down.
My favourite resteraunts in townsville are Cest ci bon on Gregory street, they do great food, the curry's and Laksa's are flavoursome anmd the cuisine is interesting and authentic. Its Malaysian inspired and it tastes great, the service is really good too. I love goingthere for break fast. If you want a good steak, I totally recommend the Newmarket steak house, I am super picky about my steak, When they ask me how I want it done, I say I want it still "Moo-ing" (very rare) and most places dont seem to get it right, but the newmarket has every time. There isnt much else on the menu though, but thats ok, I only go there for the steak. I really like Scirrocos, great food & a nice atmosphere. Love the twice cooked duck. Its really really good. For a quick bite, Betty blue and the lemon tart is good, for fish, chips and pineapple fritters, simply tops is the way to go ! ! !

Hands down the pier has the best service, atmosphere, food and is reasonably priced. I have never once been let down there. It is aimed at bein a more upscale restraunt but the prices are reasonable when compared to palmer street and the service is consistent and 100 tmes better then palmer street. Where else in townsville (when your not a "celebity") do staff notice your wine glss is nearly finished/empty and come to fill it up again even though you purchased the bottle and its there waitign for you to poor yourself.
Seriously i cannot rave on about it enough its great for functions but so intimate for a loving date on the water.
i suggest all of townsville go to heaven and back with thir perfectly cook AMZINGLY great meals.

Their only three restaurants worth going to they are table 51, touch of salt and michels, all of them have great service, great food, great everytime you go in, as for momo would let my dog eat their, catus jacks if you want cheap !?.., watermark what a let down, new market steakhouse expensive pub food, pier depends on the day like a lot of the rest of the restaurants in town.

I have to say I agree with Indigo. Consistency within the Townsville restaurant/ food scene is pretty hard to come by. I to have been to restaurants where the food was fantastic, but let down by poor service. I would in the past have said that Michelle’s café and Bar on Palmer street was the place for fine quality food, but was said let down by the acoustics. You couldn’t hear yourself speak when the restaurant was crowed, you’d have to yell just to have a conversation, I haven’t been back for years because of this. Aqua attempts to have an up market image but a footy club atmosphere and the food is that the quality of Sizzlers on a bad night. I believe that Australia would benefit from a ’Michelin Guide’ star type of rating system. This would sort out those in the restaurant industry willing to go that extra mile from those whom only want to run a greasy spoon.
Indigo, Medgirl..... I have coming up a couple of special occasions and on the back of your shinning recommendations I will be giving Siroccos and The Pier the once over and see how they come up to scratch. Here’s hoping they deliver the goods
On an end note........I also find it a pity there isn’t some sort of ’Foodies’ club here in Townsville. A club where people can go out in a group to a restaurant, try the cuisine, the wine and the atmosphere and enjoy the night out with like minded people. Once or twice a month, a different restaurant etc Does anyone know if there’s already an established club such as this?

Big agreement with dislikers of Momo's and disagreements with the likers! Bad/genertic food, always wait for ages! Best restuarants I say are Michels (pricey) cactus (cheaper) and the Luka Bean is great for a quick snack :)

I always love the C Bar- my fave is the one on the Strand but the one at Riverway is decent too, but it can get busier than the Strand one. They aren't the cheapest place in town but they are not what you'd call "expensive" compared to others. I've consistently had good food there and the staff are always friendly and helpful. I've only been kept waiting on very busy days.
Cactus Jacks is has great, decent-priced food but is very noisy. Some people don't mind this (it doesn't usually bother me) but I know my Mum doesn't like the noise level which I can understand.
I disagree with the person who said Watermark was a let down, although I would not go there often. I have only eaten there twice and the food was fantastic, although a bit expensive.
I have heard rave reviews about Betty Blue and am hanging out to try it myself- have never heard a bad word spoken about it.

I have to disagree with LilaBear's comment about the C Bar. I have had nothing but shocking experiences at both C Bars. Both the food and the staff were grossly sub-standard. Unfortunately because of the locations I do tend to 'try them again' but am always disappointed.
